Mon, 02/09/2019 Narrow your focus

Every item on your shelf takes up room. Generally, a good seller takes just as much place as a poor seller. It also takes just as much time and effort in looking after it and possibly even more time in dusting, and it earns less.

Here is a picture of a pen rack

Mon, 02/09/2019 Lottoland

This surprised me as its been a while, is that many in the lotto industry have not been following the news about Lottoland.

The matter went to the  NSW Supreme Court, and Lottoland successfully overturned a government ruling that threatened to end its business in Australia by declaring its gambling products illegal.

Wed, 04/09/2019 Newspaper Carrier Day

For those that sell newspapers, some history, once they printed newspapers, they discovered that they needed a runner to deliver it, so the paperboy was invented. For hundreds of years boys like this guy pictured in 1961, got up early to sell newspapers on the street and deliver them to people houses.

Thu, 05/09/2019 Proof of purchase

In the point of sale software, there was a record of a purchase of an item by a customer unknown. A person who had no proof that they purchased that item, came in and showed that item and demanded a refund.  The store manager was very suspicious, and soon this started a debate of what exactly is required for proof of purchase.

Mon, 09/09/2019 Why Touch Screen is better?

Touch-screen technology is everywhere in point of sale software now as today touchscreens are pretty comparable in price.

Here are three significant advantages to using touch.

1) They are easier to use; it is more natural to press buttons highlighted on the computer. Plus it is also much easier to use as your eyes do not have to keep looking away from the screen to the keyboard.

Mon, 16/09/2019 Setting your priorities right … P0, P1, P2, …

Every day we need to balance our priorities, this is the most popular system which is the most common in software, it is a combination of urgent and important.

  • P0. Your Mum dying, kids are in trouble, a guy just had a heart attack in the shop and now nothing else matters. This P0 just block everything else and stops all thought of scheduling.

Tue, 24/09/2019 Small business websites getting it seen

Retail websites

Your thinking of getting a website, the first point most people wonder about is will people come to buy off me if I have a website?

The technical term for this is SEO, and it is a problem. For any product that you sell, the odds are that many people will list it on the web for sale too.

Wed, 25/09/2019 Monitoring employee time and attendance

Our point of sale system comes with an incredibly advanced employee time and attendance, labour tracking, rostering, and data collection included free. This helps you control labour costs, minimise compliance risk, and improve workforce productivity. You can use biometrics which makes it easier and provides more verification.

One report that has proven very useful here is the  Attendance for a Given Period. What it allows you to do is instantly see who was at work on a certain day.
