As it is integrated, it can help decrease shrinkage.

Tue, 04/06/2019 End of the financial year 2019

The end of the financial year is just coming. We know that this will be for all of us is a very busy time.

Here are some steps from your point of sale software required.

Contact your accountant and get a list of documents that they require. Although our software does not require any additional handling for the end of the financial year, I would suggest as a minimum you need to prepare the following documents

Sales reports
Stock Valuation
Customers Outstanding
Creditors Outstanding
Subagents Outstanding

Wed, 05/06/2019 Toys ‘R’ Us returns to Australia

Toys R Us

Almost a year ago, Toys ‘R’ Us Australia went into voluntary administration after its parent company collapsed into the US. Now an Australian company Hobby Warehouse has the license to market under the Toys ‘R’ Us brand which you read about here. The toy market in Australia is just too big to ignore.

Thu, 06/06/2019 Evaluating a stock item

What happens is that when you go to your point of sale software and check your selling report to see how things are selling. You will find items that are selling well but are making little profit. The question often raised here, is even accepting that the item is not making much, is it drawing people into your shop who buy other products?

Well, we can help you somewhat. The reason I say somewhat I will explain.

Let us start

Go to Register reports.

Mon, 10/06/2019 Psychology with price labels

Jurek Leon is an Australian consultant in retail, he certainly knows his stuff, often talks on TV and puts out a very good monthly newsletter for retailers which I recommend you subscribe too here.

His current edition has a fascinating post.

Tue, 11/06/2019 Stocktake time coming up

It is now time to start planning for the stocktake.

For most of you, it is an ATO requirement for most organisations, as it states here {ATO link removed}

"If your business buys or sells stock, you usually need to do a stocktake to value your stock at the end of each income year if:

Tue, 11/06/2019 Is this the future of home delivery?

Robots doing home delivery

Check out what a robot home delivery could look like one day.  The first of these robots are expected to go on sale early next year in 2020.  It would be great to see one in action.

Check the video out here.

Wed, 12/06/2019 Webinar on the end of year reporting

The End of the financial year is an essential time for businesses. We all need to complete the bookkeeping for our tax returns and plan for the new fiscal year. Putting the hard work now can help you get your business organised and prepare for the year ahead.

As a minimum, I would suggest you need to get the following in order

Thu, 13/06/2019 The power of Ad Hoc reporting

The Techopedia explains here, Ad Hoc reporting as "reports that are put together creatively by users in real-time, rather than pre-designed according to a template." and for "one-time reports that are done in a customised way, to provide results for one specific question or objective."

What it is that as the demands on businesses are incredibly varied, all the time, the business is being asked answers to specific questions which are hard to get from standard reports.

Fri, 14/06/2019 Tip: Have an EOFY sale too

Years ago, there was a stocktaking sale, rapidly however this has expanded, and now we have an EOFY sale too. If you look up google trends and do a search on "EOFY sale" in Australia

This is the graph you will get. In the past seven years, it has grown dramatically from nothing

Mon, 17/06/2019 Uber VISA

I am wondering how these new ranges of VISA cards which I expect will be open to Australians soon will go?  Here is one such card.

As it is only available to residents of the United States, so you will not see many of them right now.

Tue, 18/06/2019 Creditor contracts

This function in your point of sale is convenient and can save you a lot of time, so it is worth studying. What is most commonly used by our clients is to manage their business supply relationships.

Go into creditors and select the Creditor contacts.

Creditor contacts menu

Now call up a creditor and enter in your contacts for that organisation here. Often we have heaps.

Wed, 19/06/2019 How Did You Find Us?

How did you find us?

This is a handy function in our software and easy to set up. We are now doing some enhancements to it.

What is beneficial information is to find out and then record how did a person come to find your business? This can help, among other things with your marketing, deciding on your new physical location, etc.

Thu, 20/06/2019 EOFY last chance

As the end of the financial year approaches, many of you, as are most people now, considering their plans for any last minute changes this year and what they are going to do next year.

There are several considerations that you should be aware of approaching 30 June date.

Fri, 21/06/2019 Multi cash draws

Here are tips for queue handling.

1)  When managing your store’s queue, it is important to influence your customers’ perception of their waiting. Studies show some of the problems can be alleviated by reducing the boredom, can you do something to keep them entertained?

Mon, 24/06/2019 Review of Loyalty programs 2019

The current edition of the point of loyalty is now out. Its the seventh edition and I thinks it is the best review of loyalty marketing for retails in Australia. What it is a consumer research study into the Australian loyalty program written by people who know their stuff. Plus much of the report is based on facts not opinions which I like.

Tue, 25/06/2019 Stocktake 2018/19

Well, stocktake season is upon us again.

Please note that we have updated the help documents in posBrowser's help files so it is worthwhile to check them out.

To get them press F1 while in the register and check them out.

There are four documents:

Stocktake = Standard stocktake doc using Posbrowser on its own to run the stock take.

Wed, 26/06/2019 A tip, try a BuyBack to get rid of excess stock

A lot of you now, preparing or having done a stocktake are looking at a lot of stock that you no longer want. One solution often recommended is to discount it heavily and clear it out. It usually works, but it costs.

Here is another alternative to try out.

Have a word to your supplier of this stock, you are buying off them, and they want to be in your good books. This stock may be useful to them even though it is not to you.

Thu, 27/06/2019 EFTPOS Stands

I really like this new stand that is being given out now to support the new Westpac Presto EFTPOS solution. Take a look at the specifications, I think you will be impressed too.

Fri, 28/06/2019 End of financial year

This is the last workday so as busy for us business owners now it normally is at the best of times to stay on top of things, we all have now the last minute stress of making things happen.

From a computer point of view, make sure that you prepare to make an end of year backup and a spot to put it so it can be safe for at least the next five years.
