How to program Kbd With the advent of a $2.50 Instant ticket in WA, I have been somewhat swamped with calls regarding programming keyboards and felt that this was probably as good a time as any to broach this subject. Programming the keyboard involves 2 stages, the example I will use here will directly relate to the adding of the $2.50 instant but the principle behind it is the same. Background First thing you need to do is set up the pos system for the new key and know exactly which keys you need to press to get this to work. For Example, if you press: 250 I or 2.5 I in the register to sell the new instant ticket then this is the key sequence that you need to write down somewhere. Alternatively you may have instants set up on a menu, thus if you press: I without any value it brings up a list of items 1 - 0 and Q - P. +---------------------------------------------------------------------+ ¦Key¦Description ¦Price¦Today¦Key¦Description ¦Price¦Today¦ ¦---+------------------+-----+-----+---+------------------+-----+-----¦ ¦ 1 ¦INSTANT $1 ¦ 1.00¦ 0¦ Q ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 2 ¦INSTANT $2 ¦ 2.00¦ 0¦ W ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 3 ¦INSTANT $3 ¦ 3.00¦ 0¦ E ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 4 ¦INSTANT $4 ¦ 4.00¦ 0¦ R ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 5 ¦INSTANT $5 ¦ 5.00¦ 0¦ T ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 6 ¦INSTANT $10 ¦10.00¦ 0¦ Y ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 7 ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ U ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 8 ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ I ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 9 ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ O ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 0 ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ P ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦---------------------------------------------------------------------¦ If you then press the relevant option: 2 you would sell a $2 instant. Hence the keys to program would be I2. Setting up the POS System. Enough of the background. If you are using the first example ie, 250 I, you don't need to make any other changes to the system, if however you are using a menu (the second example) I2, We'll need to add another entry to the instant menu for your $2.50 instant. How do you do this, well I'm glad you asked! Press I to goto your instant menu F3 to edit Descriptions Arrow down to a blank spot and enter in your discription followed by Type in the cost (2.50). It should look something like the example below. +---[Menu entry for key ]--------+ ¦ +Key Description Price + ¦ ¦ ¦1 INSTANT $1 1.00 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦2 INSTANT $2 2.00 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦3 INSTANT $3 3.00 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦4 INSTANT $4 4.00 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦5 INSTANT $5 5.00 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦6 INSTANT $10 10.00 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦7 INSTANT $2.50 2.50 ¦ ¦ ¦ ¦8 0.00 ¦ ¦ Press Page down to save the information. The Menu should now look something like +---------------------------------------------------------------------+ ¦Key¦Description ¦Price¦Today¦Key¦Description ¦Price¦Today¦ ¦---+------------------+-----+-----+---+------------------+-----+-----¦ ¦ 1 ¦INSTANT $1 ¦ 1.00¦ 0¦ Q ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 2 ¦INSTANT $2 ¦ 2.00¦ 0¦ W ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 3 ¦INSTANT $3 ¦ 3.00¦ 0¦ E ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 4 ¦INSTANT $4 ¦ 4.00¦ 0¦ R ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 5 ¦INSTANT $5 ¦ 5.00¦ 0¦ T ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 6 ¦INSTANT $10 ¦10.00¦ 0¦ Y ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 7 ¦INSTANT $2.50 ¦ 2.50¦ 0¦ U ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ ¦ 8 ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ I ¦ ¦ 0.00¦ 0¦ Therefore to sell a $2.50 instant you would press I7 from the register in this example This is the key combination that you will tell the keyboard to use.
